Late summer is the season of abundance. Our Cutting Garden beds are spilling over into the garden’s pathways, as the flowers are at their peak for the year. It is a time full of inspiration and beauty, and the most exciting time of the year to be out in the garden. Join Kelly Sullivan, Owner and Creative Director of Botanique, for a day spent in the garden and the studio, combining the best of our most popular workshops to date- Movement Study and Flower Field Day.

We’ll begin with a Cutting Garden tour, where Kelly will teach attendees how to harvest flowers and share tips on growing and creating a cutting garden at your home. Kelly will show you how, when and where to harvest flowers for maximum vase life, and to encourage plants to re-bloom throughout the season. Considerations for sustained plant health will also be addressed, and we will talk about favorite plant varieties for cutting and answer burning Cutting Garden questions. Participants will then be set free with clippers in hand to harvest whatever blooms speak to their heart!

After lunch we will head into the design studio, where Kelly will guide attendees in creating an arrangement in a low, shallow bowl using a flower frog as an anchor. Movement is what makes an arrangement come to life, and we will spend the design portion of the day taking a deep dive into the concepts of line, gesture, layering, curve, flower groupings, color bridging, and materials selection. We will work in an “of the moment” manner, inspired by the materials, setting, and vessels we are designing with. Each participant will have ample time to create a compelling, natural design that feels alive and full of intentional movement.

At the end of the workshop, each participant’s arrangement will be photographed for personal and/or professional use by one of Botanique’s preferred photographers.

This workshop is open to all levels. Registration will be capped at 12 participants, and early registration is advised.
